We are looking for software engineers to expand our robotics and autonomy team, with the aim of improving the capabilities and robustness of our quadruped robot Zeta as we move toward initial deployments with clients.

At least 1 year of professional software development experience, with any numerate / algorithmic language (e.g. Python / C / C++ / Java / Rust / Go / ...)
Comfortable programming in Python, C or C++, these are our main development languages.
Experience with a Linux development environment and version control tools.
Comfortable with mathematics, numerical algorithms and matrices.
Good communication skills, you should be happy discussing your ideas with people from different backgrounds and specialisms.

We’re looking to build a team with expertise in real-time programming, perception and planning, and robotics and control.
It would be advantageous to either have most of the listed skills from one of the subject areas, or a combination of skills from two or more areas.
Having said that, we fully expect and encourage a certain degree of learning on the job, so don’t be put off if you’re unsure whether you meet the requirements!
Experience with real-time (or close-to-real-time) software development, e.g. QNX, Xenomai, Linux PREEMPT-RT, embedded systems.
Experience with programming, debugging and field-testing on real-world hardware.
Experience with performance-critical programming in C / C++.
Experience with parallel software architectures.
Good understanding of inter-process communication via message passing, e.g. TCP/UDP, ZeroMQ, OpenMPI.
Experience with inter-device communication protocols, e.g. I2C, SPI, EtherCAT, CAN.
Perception and Planning
Good knowledge of mathematics, ideally including linear algebra, optimization, numerical analysis, statistics.
Experience working with numerical programming packages (e.g. NumPy / SciPy for Python).
Experience with computer vision.
Experience with non-visual perception and sensor-fusion.
Knowledge of techniques for computationally dealing with uncertainty.
Experience with online motion and trajectory planning algorithms.
Familiarity with machine learning approaches.
Robotics and Control
Proven professional or academic robotics track record, any experience with mobile or underactuated robots would be a bonus.
Experience with formulations of forward and inverse kinematics and dynamics.
Experience with developing models in simulation, e.g. Gazebo, MuJoCo, PyBullet, and with transferring from simulation to real hardware.
Good understanding of control theory for actuators and/or BLDC motors.
Experience with robotics middleware packages, e.g. ROS, LCM, ZeroMQ.
Experience of sensor integration and communication protocols.
